Duckie Homosexualist Summer School

D.H.S.S is a performance training school for young LGBTQ+ performance artists aged 18 - 30 years olds that runs for 18 days in Summer 2023

Directed by Ursula Martinez and based in Hackney at the weekends only, Duckie have recruited 13 young benders and pretenders to dig the new breed

Short sharp shocks from the New Young Queers

18 days of new wave show business, post-queer subterfuge, DIY entertainment + poncing about

It is particularly suitable for queer people, but bent-adjacent folk, allies and oddballs are welcome

Each artist will create two short performances pieces - one short piece for the stage and one outdoor site specific piece for the street and local shops

There will be 3 performance slots, 2 in Hackney and 1 at Latitude Festival

Participants are given a bursury of £300, tickets and travel to Latitude and lots of support and networking opportunities

By the end of the workshops we hope you might even have a piece that you can make money from on London's club performance scene to help kickstart your career

Duckie were particularly keen to support applicants from working class backgrounds, but everyone is welcome as we don't want to be a restrictitive pain in the arse
